The first 2 months of 2021 have been focused heavily on finishing up some major plugin updates. One of those was a major overhaul of the MailChimp Integration extension.

Up until now, the extension was really a “one-way” street, passing data to MailChimp via its API.  The 2.1 update incorporates a much needed change to allow two-way passing of data between the two to make this a much better overall application.  Continue Reading →

Restrict Registration to MailChimp List Subscribers

Generally, the WP-Members MailChimp extension is used to subscribe users to your list when they register.  But using the extension’s API, it can also be used to restrict site registration to users who are subscribed an existing MailChimp list.

This process requires the WP-Members MailChimp Integration extension.

Adding MailChimp Interest Groups

Make MailChimp subscribe field a hidden field in the WP-Members registration form

Suppose you are using the WP-Members registration form essentially as an opt-in to your MailChimp list.  Essentially, you want anyone who fills out the form to be added to the MailChimp opt-in process.

This requires you to have the MailChimp extension installed and a subscribe field set up and configured.  This filter will take that field and make it a hidden field, essentially triggering the MailChimp opt-in process for all users. Continue Reading →

Simple MailChimp merge field example

Note: as of WP-Members MailChimp Integration version 2.0, merge fields can be managed directly in the extension’s admin tab. This filter remains active and supported, but it is only generally needed for customizing the process if necessary rather than defining it.
