The Blacklist add-on will allow you to prevent registration based on the user’s IP address, email address, or username. You can also set an error message for each one of these criteria.
Using the Blacklist Add-on
This add-on installs like another plugin. Download the zip package and either unzip it and load it to your plugins folder, or load the zip file using the new plugin upload process in the WP admin. Then activate the add-on in the plugins list.
The add-on will add a “Blacklist” tab to your WP-Members options.
Enter the items you wish to prevent from registration in the appropriate fields:
- IP address
- Email address
- Username
For example, if you want to prevent people from registering with the usernames “admin”, “administrator” and “support”, add those to the list separated by commas like this:
admin,administrator,support
Now anyone attempting to register with one of those values will receive an error message (which you can define in the appropriate field) and be prevented from registration.
New in version 1.1: You can block email signups based on domain wildcards. For example, *@gmail.com will block any email with gmail.com as the domain.
